Earn rewards for program participation!
Teachers
To earn a mini-grant for classroom supplies:
- Complete the classroom portion of the lessons.
- Assign the online homework exercises.
- Distribute the Water Conservation Kits to students.
- Confirm that 75% of students complete the Student Survey (online or paper).
- Complete the online post-program evaluation.
- Return the postage-paid return envelope located in your teacher folder with the following:

- Artwork contest entries
- Student Surveys (if students did not enter online)
- Student thank-you letters
- Teacher thank-you letter on school letterhead
The $50 mini-grant is based on verified completion of each task above. It will be emailed to you within three weeks of the date you submit your post-program evaluation.
Top classroom performer prize
To automatically enter, complete the classroom mini-grant criteria, and teachers with the top student point earners per capita will qualify. Prizes range from $125 to $500.

Students
Student Artwork Contest
Students are encouraged to create a drawing focusing on the importance of responsible water use by the community. Examples of topics include outdoor water conservation, water use behavior, and aquifer protection. Here are the details:
- The artwork template for students to use is found on the last page of the Student Workbook.
Students will submit the entries to you. - Return the postage-paid envelope located in your teacher folder with the contest entries and the other program items listed in the Teacher Guide.
- The winner will have their artwork showcased on next year’s kit and receive a $25 Amazon gift card prize.
Student Video Contest
Students are encouraged to create a video to teach their peers about what they learned. Example topics include subsidence, water conservation, water use behaviors, and groundwater. There are two options for video submission and prizes. Here are the details:
- You can create a video with your class and submit it via email to h2olab@tinkerteach.com. The winning prize is an end-of-the-year pizza party.
- Students create and submit their own video.
- Student entries are submitted via the video contest page in the Student Portal.
- To be eligible for the prize, parents must sign a Parent Consent Form. This can be downloaded and submitted via the video contest page in the Student Portal.
- The winner will receive a $25 Amazon gift card.
- All submissions must be completed by APRIL 30th to be considered.
Points Challenge
As students progress through the online portion of the program, they earn points for each action completed and recorded in the web application. All students who earn 6,000 points will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card!
